About

Sara y Sara is a feature-length documentary exploring the intergenerational impact of war, forced migration, and silence within a Salvadoran family. The film follows mother and daughter—Rossana Perez and Sara Aguilar—as they confront a shared history marked by exile, activism, and loss. As they revisit their history as refugees, the film becomes both a reckoning and a path towards healing.

At its heart, this is a film about a daughter reclaiming her place in a story she didn’t know she was part of. But it is also a story about memory as resistance—about using film to interrupt cycles of silence and reconnect the personal to the political.

Directed by Sara Aguilar and Pete Galindo.
